Amateur League Predictions (12.1.2005)
Playoffs round ONE

Disavowed vs. Warlords
The eighth and ninth seeding squads, Disavowed and Warlords, both recorded a 2-1 in seeding rounds. Disavowed took a 7-12 loss against Wisdom Academy, but regrouped and made the playoffs by beating DAMN_Yankees 12-3 and Wisdom Academy in the rematch with a 12-1 score. Warlords have been pretty good this season, especially their two victories over the strong CtrlShift are worth noting. They've got a wide range of good players and can definitely challenge any squad in this season's AML. The winner of this match will advance to face the winner of Llamasery vs. Fly-NDeath match and the loser will be eliminated. The first KO will be extremely important in this one as both squads are quite capable of winning 4v3. Disavowed should be able to field a stronger starting lineup. Warlords might be able to keep it close with good substitutions, but Disavowed should be able to win here.
Prediction: Disavowed 12-5
Players to watch: B|aze, North Star

ElementalForces vs. NightBane
NightBane lost twice in the seeding rounds, only beating Fly-NDeath. ElementalForces seemed quite strong in the seeding rounds and they were only the second squad which has been able to beat Llamasery this season along with Secret. Both squads have a relatively deep bench and you can count on both being able to field strong starting lineups. As in Disavowed-Warlords, the first KO will be extremely important in this match. NightBane was pretty quiet in the seeding rounds, but we can expect them to kick it up a notch for the playoffs. These two squads have already played twice this season and the score is currently 1-1. I wouldn't be extremely surprised if these two squads would face each other a fourth time in the finals. Of course, this is the playoffs, so we can expect to see some surprising results. ElementalForces have looked pretty solid in past weeks and I think they have the edge here.
Prediction: ElementalForces 9-6
Players to watch: Empower, DarkDisparage

Llamasery vs. Fly-NDeath
Two squads that have been slightly better than I expected before the season began. The Llamasery team has been a close-knit group for quite a while now and their teamwork has been superb. They haven't fielded as many pilots as many other squads, but they have a dependable bench and a good starting lineup and that has made the squad a championship contender this season. Fly-NDeath, on the other hand, have also been quite solid throughout the season, but they're quite dependant on the performances of their top players and ZDeathX's importance can clearly be seen whenever the squad plays - if ZDeathX plays well, Fly-NDeath plays well and vice versa. Can Fly-NDeath's thin lineup challenge for the AML championship this season? I don't think so, but upsetting Llamasery is possible. Still, the llamas have been quite convincing lately.
Prediction: Llamasery 10-5
Players to watch: Crunchy, ZDeathX

Secret vs. CtrlShift
The outcome of this match will depend greatly on what lineup CtrlShift'll field. We all know that the squad'll be one of the top championship contenders if they manage to field their top four, along with a dependable bench. Secret have had a rollercoaster season with very good victories over squads like Llamasery, Disavowed and BlackNike, but also losses to squads like Victimise and Anarchists. Secret's performance, also, depends a lot on the lineup they field. They don't have a deep, trustworthy bench to back up their starters, so their starting lineup's performance is what decides matches either for them or against them. Tursiops is definitely the player to keep your eye on. His performance always has a huge impact on Secret's gameplay. CtrlShift showed that they mean business with the 12-4 victory over Anarchists in seeding round three and they'll definitely be one of the squads to beat this season. Secret is the underdog here and that's sometimes a good place to strike from. Should be close unless either squad has a quick choke.
Prediction: CtrlShift 12-5
Players to watch: Tursiops, A foul wind

StarFire Elite vs. BlackNike
Fear Deist's comeback.
Prediction: NONE
Players to watch: MfA, Joe Bane
