Regular season round TWELVE |
7rominence vs. Victimise
Two middle-tier squads from Balder division facing off here. 7rominence is now 5-6 after getting a decent 12-7 victory over TEAM HOCKEY ZONE last week. Both squads are out of the playoff race, but I bet both would like to add another win to their seasons. This is 7rominence's last match of the season as they have no match in round thirteen. Victimise has a postponed match against Blasphemy on makeup round and a match against BALLISTICS on round 13 left. Victimise started their season with a five losses in a row, but have gotten their play back in order with three wins in their last four matches (one noshow).. of course they've faced weaker squads, but their 9-7 victory over Secret on round seven does show some improvement. Victimise can field a stronger starting lineup than 7rominence, but 7rominence has a deeper bench. This match'll depend greatly on who'll show. Victimise can still reach six wins and I think they have the momentum advantage here.
Prediction: Victimise 12-6
Players to watch: Omegared, Leaky
Ballistics vs. TEAM HOCKEY ZONE
BALLISTICS are 3-4 after joining AML with victories over Fly-NDeath, Anarchists and Secret. TEAM HOCKEY ZONE is now 0-10 and is the worst squad in the league along with DeepBlue. They've been able to play some decent, close matches, like their losses to Fly-NDeath (10-12) and Llamasery (5-9). I'm glad to see that they showed against 7rominence last week after a noshow on round ten against Victimise. At the moment their lineup is too thin to win matches against squads like BALLISTICS, but they just might score a victory against Blasphemy on round thirteen.
Prediction: BALLISTICS 12-3
Players to watch: Dantos, Lawn Dwarf
BlackNike vs. }Silence{
After eleven rounds BlackNike is 8-3 and steady on fourth spot in Thor division and it looks like they'll finish fourth too, unless Warlords manage to upset CtrlShift. Silence has had a tough season so far, currently being 2-8 near the bottom of the division. Their biggest achievement has been upsetting Liquid Inc. 12-9 on round six. I expect }Silence{ to lose the remaining two matches against BlackNike and Oracle X without putting up too much of a challenge. Hopefully they'll be back next season because they do have some potential.
Prediction: BlackNike 12-1
Players to watch: ManDude, PlasmaKitty
Blasphemy vs. StarFire Elite
My own match, no prediction.
Prediction: No prediction
Players to watch: WarCraft, G o G o
CRIPS vs. NightBane
CRIPS took a 2-12 loss against Warlords and got their three match winning streak cut. What's suprising is that they've actually won matches while fielding Harry Dunn who's got a 3:20 record so far this season. And no, he isn't the worst player MasterRater-wise in AML this season. NightBane has been strong all season, only losing to Oracle X so far. It looks like the winner of Thor division will be decided on round thirteen with NightBane, ElementalForces and CtrlShift still in the race. Very exciting.. and let's not forget that NightBane vs. CtrlShift is going to be played on.. of course, round thirteen. CRIPS, suprisingly, still have a slight chance to make the playoffs. However, I think that chance'll die very early in this match.
Prediction: NightBane 12-3
Players to watch: bukkwild, Lateralus
CtrlShift vs. Warlords
Warlords are now 5-5 after beating CRIPS 12-2. They can still challenge Wisdom Academy and Oracle X for the fifth spot in Thor division. The squad'll get a noshow win over DeepBlue on round thirteen, but they'd definitely need a win here. Too bad CtrlShift needs one to stay on NightBane's tail, too. CtrlShift's loss to Zeta-Squadron in round one might become very important as the last two rounds are played. Warlords have been a decent squad this season and while they have lost to better squads, they've been very dominant against weaker ones. CtrlShift is the stronger squad here and should win this one. Warlords will put up a good fight at first, but they'll eventually be outplayed.
Prediction: CtrlShift 12-5
Players to watch: A foul wind, Mizerie
Damn_Yankees vs. ShitFuck
Not a very tough call here. ShitFuck has lost four of their five matches so far and their only victory was against TEAM HOCKEY ZONE. Their 3-12 loss to the struggling Blasphemy showed that the squad will most likely lose all their remaining three matches. Damn_Yankees still have matches against ShitFuck, StarFire Elite and Disavowed and they desperately need to win all three to catch up with Llamasery. They should have little to no trouble with ShitFuck, but the remaining two matches will decide their final position when we go in to seeding rounds.
Prediction: Damn_Yankees 12-0
Players to watch: Zombie, ElementalForces
DeepBlue vs. Oracle X
The question is whether DeepBlue'll be allowed to play if they do show up as they've noshowed two matches in a row and are technically dropped from the league. Of course they'll give free victories to Oracle X and Warlords to keep things fair.
Prediction: Oracle X with a noshow
Players to watch: Zombie, ElementalForces
Disavowed vs. Secret
This match is very important for both squads. Disavowed still has two postponed matches left after the regular season and they're 6-2 right now. Secret is 5-5, but might even challenge Disavowed for the last Balder playoff spot if they managed to pull off the upset here. They'd most likely have to beat Fly-NDeath on round thirteen, too, though. Disavowed should beat ShitFuck rather easily, but if Secret managed to win their two remaining matches, Disavowed would need to beat either Damn_Yankees or StarFire Elite to reach the seedings. Of course, it's a very slight possibility, but Secret has done some big upsets in the past. Still, Disavowed does look very strong going in to this one. They can reach a 10-2 record and while they're not going to catch up with Llamasery for the first spot, they'll definitely be looking for as many victories as possible. Don't count Secret out, though, I think they'll keep this one close for quite a while.
Prediction: Disavowed 12-3
Players to watch: Kurtz, Tursiops
ElementalForces vs. Liquid Inc.
ElementalForces have managed to put themselves in a good position as we head towards the seeding rounds. They still have to face Liquid Inc. and Oracle X. If they manage to win both, they'll have to wait and see how the match between CtrlShift and NightBane finishes. If CtrlShift wins, ElementalForces will finish first in Thor division, if NightBane wins ElementalForces will finish second. However, they still have to face two formidable opponents. Liquid Inc. has been improving slowly as the season progresses. They did take an unexpected loss against CRIPS and have been far from their best this season. Still, they managed to upset Wisdom Academy in round eight. The squad can definitely field a very strong lineup, but they've been badly chokeprone this season. If they managed to get their best four playing in good form, they'd be able to challenge most squads in this season's AML. Right now they're, however, low on momentum and ElementalForces should win here.
Prediction: ElementalForces 12-5
Players to watch: Empower, FAID
Fly-NDeath vs. Llamasery
This should be one of the better matches this round. Llamasery is now 9-1 and they've beaten opponent after opponent, often with very small margins. Their only loss so far is against Secret. If Llamasery beat Fly-NDeath and Anarchists, they'll go in to the seeding rounds as #1 in Balder division. Fly-NDeath look quite confident going in to seeding rounds. However, they've only won three of their last five matches with losses to Ballistics 5-12 and Damn_Yankees 4-12. They've had trouble beating the tougher squads in Balder division, although they did beat Disavowed in round nine. Fly-NDeath will face Secret in round thirteen and they could use victories from the two remaining matches. Llamasery's been strong lately and I think they might keep on winning matches for now. Fly-NDeath could pull a slight upset here too.
Prediction: Llamasery 12-6
Players to watch: ZDeathX, Perceptor
Wisdom Academy vs. Zeta-Squadron
Wisdom Academy is likely to beat }Silence{ on round thirteen without too much trouble so their seeding round spot is going to be decided here. If Wisdom Academy loses here and Oracle X beats ElementalForces on round thirteen, Oracle X'll will reach the seeding rounds and Wisdom Academy'll be eliminated. And let's not forget about Warlords and CRIPS, two squads which'll also be in the race if they manage to upset this week. After a couple of impressive wins early in the season, Zeta-Squadron has been rather weak, getting completely run down by Oracle X, Warlords and BlackNike, only recording one victory in their last five matches. They only showed two against BlackNike last week and things aren't looking too hot for the squad. They are out of the playoffs race now and it remains to be seen whether they'll be back for another season in a couple of months. I don't expect Wisdom Academy to choke their playoff chances here, so they'll win this one.
Prediction: Wisdom Academy 12-4
Players to watch: A Zen Master, Demon
