Regular season round EIGHT |
7rominence vs. Secret
7rominence continues struggling on season eleven with a 3-4 record. They're currently ranked eighth in Balder division. The squad's problem seems to be not being able to put up a real challenge against a tougher squad as they've lost to Damn_Yankees, Disavowed, Fly-NDeath and Llamasery. The squad has lost four of their last five matches. Secret is ranked seventh in Balder with a 3-3 record. The top point of their season so far was a suprising 11-7 victory over Llamasery. The team is still based a lot around individual performance, mainly Tursiops's and Trash-killer's performances. If either of the two play a bad match, Secret tends to lose. Had Secret not beaten Llamasery, their season would have been pretty grim so far. They definitely need to win here to stay in the playoff race.. they will probably lose at least three times in the last five rounds. The match'll probably be a close one until either team loses the first players.
Prediction: Secret 12-7
Players to watch: omegared, Tursiops
BALLISTICS vs. Llamasery
BALLISTICS are 2-2 after entering AML on round four. Llamasery has recorded a 5-1 record and are currently on a four game (five if you count the forfeit win against Shadow) winning streak. The squad has, however, not yet faced the top squads in Balder and will have a hard schedule in the last six rounds. Llamasery has also had a difficult time reaching 12 kills this season, only reaching it once against 7rominence. They've managed to win matches with their slightly defensive playstyle. The outcome of this match depends greatly on which players BALLISTICS fields. I believe Llamasery'll be able to win here.
Prediction: Llamasery 12-5
Players to watch: Dantos, Perceptor
BlackNike vs. Oracle X
Two squads from the top of Thor division face off here. Oracle X has been strong so far except for the loss against the struggling Liquid Inc. Thor division does look a little stronger than Balder to me.. BlackNike are 5-2 with the most notable victory against Wisdow Academy. The squad's gameplay revolves around Joe Bane, Drue. and ManDude and those three have to play well for the squad to win matches against other top squads. After this match BlackNike'll have four weeks of easier matches as they prepare for the playoffs. Oracle X needs the win here as they've still got matches against ElementalForces and CtrlShift. As long as the squad keeps AnalIntruder out of the playing lineup, they should be able to challenge any squad in AML this season. This one'll be close and getting the first KO will mean a lot. I'd say Oracle X will suprise the predictors and win.
Prediction: Oracle X 12-6
Players to watch: ManDude, chaoticsky
Blasphemy vs. Anarchists
Blasphemy have been rather weak this season, despite being able to field a capable starting lineup. They did record a suprising 11-10 victory over Damn_Yankees, but besides that it's been a disappointing season for Blasphemy. They've lost to two of the top squads in Balder division, Disavowed and Fly-NDeath, and will have a slightly easier schedule for the rest of the season. Anarchists are now 4-3, but are on a two week losing streak with losses against 7rominence and BALLISTICS. I might be off with this, but I'm going to give Blasphemy the edge here. If they can show their best four, they should be able to win against any lineup Anarchists can throw at them. Probably a high-scoring match.
Prediction: Blasphemy 12-8
Players to watch: sagum, G_BoNe
CRIPS vs. CHAOS*ZONE
Two bottom-rung teams from Thor division playing here. CRIPS are 2-4 with victories against DeepBlue and }Silence{. CHAOS*ZONE is 1-6 with their only victory against }Silence{. Now neither of these squads is going to win the AML championship on season 11, but both seem to be showing to matches without trouble, despite CRIPS having a very small roster. I'd really like to predict for CHAOS*ZONE as they are practicing hard and trying to improve. They're, however, a season or two and a couple of strong pilots away from being a possible playoff squad. CRIPS will win this if they show four.
Prediction: CRIPS 12-5
Players to watch: bukkwild, bruno
CtrlShift vs. ElementalForces
Two top squads in Thor division here. CtrlShift is 5-1 with a loss to Zeta-Squadron after fielding some of their bench. ElementalForces are 5-1-1 with a loss to NightBane and a tie against Wisdom Academy. Both squads have played their last five matches without a loss and will definitely want to continue that streak so this'll be a match in which both squads'll field the best lineups available. We can expect both squads deep in the playoffs, so this should be a great match to spectate. As in BlackNike vs. Oracle X, the first KO will be very valuable here and both squads'll probably aim on getting the man advantage as early as possible. I think CtrlShift can field a much wider lineup than ElementalForces and good subbing wins matches.
Prediction: CtrlShift 8-5
Players to watch: A foul wind, iron hands
DAMN_Yankees vs. Fly-NDeath
What we have here is a match with two top squads in Balder division (lots of top squad vs. top squad matches this week. A conspiracy?). Fly-NDeath is sporting a 5-2 record, ranking third in Balder, whereas DAMN_Yankees are fourth with a 4-1 record. The Yankees's only loss was a suprising one two weeks back against Blasphemy. DY will be looking for the win here to get back on track. If Fly-NDeath does pull a suprise victory here, Stoned'll be cashing in on a lot of online MasterRater dollars with a 1000$ money line. I, however, don't see that happening. DAMN_Yankees have to field a good lineup for this one, but I do expect them to win. FND will put up a good fight though. The first KO, again, will be extremely valuable. Fly-NDeath's ZDeathX has been racking up the kills against weaker squads and then done bad against tougher ones.. he can be the deciding factor here if he can put in a good performance. And if he can, Fly-NDeath'll have a good chance to suprise all the predictors. And don't forget THE BEST DEFENSEMAN IN SUBSPACE HISTORY - HOLLY MOLLY! WHATCHA GONNA DO DADD WHEN FLY-NDEATH BECOMES THE NEW AML CHAMPIONSHIP?
Prediction: DAMN_Yankees 12-6
Players to watch: Moderation, ZDeathX
NightBane vs. Zeta-Squadron
NightBane has been really strong this season if you count out the 3-11 loss to Oracle X. Zeta-Squadron picked up victories over CtrlShift and Liquid Inc. early in the season, but have lost 0-12 to Oracle X and Warlords during the last two weeks, against OX they did only show three. If Zeta do show their top four for this match, they might even be able to challenge NightBane for the win.. I don't think that'll happen though. NightBane's been looking good so far, although they've yet to face BlackNike and CtrlShift. I don't expect NightBane to reach the finals this season, but they are a playoff squad and could score some big suprises in the playoffs too.
Prediction: NightBane 12-4
Players to watch: Time Bomb, Demon
ShitFuck vs. Victimise
There's been a lot of talk about ShitFuck's scheduling times on the AML forum. I really don't see what the big deal is - us euros always have to play really late. It could be refreshing to wake up early on a sunday to play an Online Asteroids match. Or maybe not.. Is ShitFuck allowed to make the playoffs? I'd think so. Unfortunately they'll have four matches less than the other squads, so every match is very important for the squad. A win against Victimise would be vital here if ShitFuck intends on challenging for a playoff spot. Victimise is currently 1-5 with their only victory against Secret from last week. The squad has struggled in getting four strong players in. They've, however, been playing well in the last two rounds with close matches against Llamasery (5-7 loss) and Secret (9-7 win). ShitFuck put up a good fight against StarFire Elite two weeks back and took a victory over TEAM HOCKEY ZONE, making their current record 1-1. This is a hard call as we really can't tell how good ShitFuck mark II's lineup is. Could be a match with a lot of kills for both squads.
Prediction: Victimise 12-7
Players to watch: ElementalForces, ampheres
StarFire Elite vs. TEAM HOCKEY ZONE
My match - no prediction.
Prediction: StarFire Elite 12-0
Players to watch: SFE's starting four.
Warlords vs. }Silence{
What do we have here..? Warlords 3-3 and }Silence{ 2-5 face off. This could be an easy prediction if }Silence{ hadn't suprised everyone by grabbing a 12-9 win against Liquid Inc. two weeks back in a match where a lot of repels were wasted. Warlords are far from being the squad they were five seasons back, but they've got a good bunch of decent players in the squad's lineup now. We're still waiting on Gazelle's big comeback for this season. Anyways, of course Warlords are a lot stronger than }Silence{ this season, no question about it. The match might be quite lopsided and Warlords should win it without much trouble.
Prediction: Warlords 12-2
Players to watch: Gazelle, PlasmaKitty
Wisdom Academy vs. Liquid Inc.
Liquid Inc. have had a disappointing season so far. They were a playoff squad last season, but have played bad this season. If the squad managed to field their best four in good form, they could challenge most squads in the league, but alas, so far they've done a 1-5 record. Wisdom Academy are 3-2-1 with losses to the strong BlackNike (3-12) and CtrlShift (4-12). Although this seems like an easy call, you can never know when Liquid Inc'll get back on track and start playing like they've used to. I'll probably lose on this prediction, but I'm going to go with LI. If they manage to pull the upset I'll start predicting for a living.
Prediction: Liquid Inc. 12-6
Players to watch: Aleksandra, FAID
