| Amateur League Predictions (12.1.2003) |
KoTH vs. )(MasteR)(
Master put up a decent fight against Abnocto Pestis last week, but did lose it in the end with the score 6-10. KoTH took their second victory against SilverArrows with the score 9-6, so both squads are in decent form. As the sixth round begins, )(MasteR)( is 2-3 and KoTH is 2-2, as they entered the league in round two. Both squads are right on the edge of the playoff line, so every point counts if they plan on making the top sixteen. )(MasteR)( has a clear edge in league experience, so they are the stronger squad here.
Prediction: )(MasteR)( 12-5
Players to watch: eye, thomas hawk
Fly-NDeath vs. Epik
Fly-NDeath came one kill short of upsetting Heaven last week, but did lose it 6-7 in the overtime. That took FND's record to 3-2 after five rounds, losses to Victimise and Heaven. Epik's 3-2 too, they've lost to )(MasteR)( and Heaven. Still, their positive record is mostly due to facing squads from the bottom-end of the league. Fly-NDeath is far stronger than any squad Epik's beaten.
Prediction: Fly-NDeath 12-4
Players to watch: Matt, RichterScale
StarFire Elite vs. Victimise
Last week's game against Dissent was a lot closer than the final score might indicate!
Prediction: NONE
Players to watch: Mauler & teammates
Bunner vs. ASWZ
ASWZ reached a 3-2 record last week by crushing Integral 12-0. Bunner progressed to 1-4 with a 6-12 loss to Epik. Not much of a contest here, ASWZ's clearly in a better form than Bunner and they're seriously challenging for a top-eight ranking. The real challenges will come later, Bunner's not in the form to seriously fight for the victory here.
Prediction: ASWZ 12-5
Players to watch: Buttoch, Auroa
Wretcheds vs. Dissent
Dissent played a solid, patient game against StarFire Elite last week and took the victory with a 12-5 score. Wretcheds lost to No Data 12-3, quite as expected. Dissent is now 2-1 with two postponed matches, Wretcheds are 3-2 with losses to Tweaked and the forementioned No Data. Wretcheds will probably make the playoffs by beating weaker opponents, but Dissent will reach a 3-1 record after this match.
Prediction: Dissent 12-2
Players to watch: Lamest Duck, Entertainment
Happy Mob vs. Alcoholism
Happy Mob really challenged Birds of Prey last week, but ended up losing 8-12. Alcoholism took a solid 12-1 victory over Exodus, which was their first regular season victory ever...and they'll be seriously competing for a second ever here. Happy Mob has shown some good form since entering the league and they're 2-3 now. Still, Alcoholism is more active and will make this a close game. I root for Alcoholism, since it would be nice to see the squad reach a winning streak.
Prediction: Alcoholism 12-7
Players to watch: Demokillers, SEAL
Warlords vs. Heaven
Well Heaven managed to sneak one past Fly-NDeath and win the game last week 7-6 in overtime. That does make them one of the championship contenders in my book. Warlords have had a decent season. Last week they got their match against Ferrum postponed. Heaven is clearly the stronger squad here and should take this match with ease.
Prediction: Heaven 12-4
Players to watch: Gazelle, Zorro
Blasphemy vs. Tweaked
Blasphemy's had a medicore season after reaching semi-finals last season. They've had some roster changes, so that might be the explanation. Tweaked came through and beat Victimise last week, just as I predicted. Indeed. Now they have to regroup for this round and keep on winning to become a real threat for the championship run. I'm prone to think that Blasphemy's current form won't be enough to challenge Tweaked, who are still going strong after that win last week.
Prediction: Tweaked 12-5
Players to watch: Nalin, Super.Fly
Old Germany vs. No Data
ATM matchup, doesn't even deserve to be commented on, really. No Data took a 12-3 victory over Wretcheds with private Shiny grabbing a 3:0 farewell-MVP. No Data hasn't been nowhere near their last season's form, even with a 4-1 record. Old Germany...well, 1-3 isn't that bad for a new squad, but I believe most of AML will root for their loss in every match they play.
Prediction: No Data 12-0
Players to watch: Phog, Nelson
Integral vs. SilverArrows
Integral lost to ASWZ last week. SilverArrows lost to KoTH, which was a suprise to me. I don't expect either squad to make a playoff appearance this season, but every game adds to the experience, so we shouldn't forget either of these squads. Integral's been struggling around the playoff line for a couple of seasons now, but there has been little to no progress. SilverArrows have improved quite a lot since the season began. Still, Integral has a huge experience edge here and should take a victory here. However, a couple of seasons from now the situation would be a whole lot different.
Prediction: Integral 12-6
Players to watch: Blindsight, DBeckham
Mutiny vs. Ferrum
Mutiny was supposed to be a dying squad, but now they're one of the top squads in the league. Just like last season. Ferrum postponed last week, but they've played strong after the first rounds. Ferrum will be a playoff squad this season, but they're still far from being a championship contender, whereas Mutiny is very close to being one. It'll be a close game, but Mutiny will take the two points.
Prediction: Mutiny 10-6
Players to watch: KillDawg, Precept
-BlitZed- vs. Liquid Inc.
BlitZed has had a medicore season, they've played well in some matches and terribly in others. Liquid Inc. ... well, Tak told me that there actually IS a dot at the end of the name, the league staff just didn't bother to insert it to the roster system, so that's all solved up now. In this match Liquid Inc. is more active by far and they should take the win without too much trouble. BlitZed...well, at least they didn't lose to Old Germany, so there's still hope.
Prediction: Liquid Inc. 12-4
Players to watch: ugly guy, Tak
Llamasery vs. Birds of Prey
Birds of Prey have been far from being convincing this season, losing close games and having difficulties with easier squads. Still, from that point there's only a very small step to real success. They're now 2-2 and looking good for a playoff spot. Llamasery's 1-3 and it looks like they won't be making the playoffs this season. Well, one half of the regular season's still left to be played and Llamasery might very well suprise us all. Still, I'd expect Birds of Prey to be the stronger squad in this match.
Prediction: Birds of Prey 12-6
Players to watch: Razar, Dagger
Abnocto Pestis vs. Exodus
ATM, ATM. Abnocto Pestis has some difficulties against )(MasteR)( last week, but took a good 10-6-victory in the end. Exodus will be less-of-an-opponent and we'll have to wait and see how Abnocto Pestis plays against stronger squads.
Prediction: Abnocto Pestis 12-1
Players to watch: Flurry, AC
