BlackNike vs. )(Master)(
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: BlackNike by 10
This isn't a real brainer, BlackNike has been pretty convincing throughout the season if you count out the loss to Llamasery. I and Miner both had high hopes for Master, anyone still remember the Born Slippy & Thaller hype? There is a whole lot Master's roster could do, but a little advice for next season: recruit active players. Elthia and Wish Master )!( have been their key players this season, but they can in no way challenge the strong roster of BlackNike. The question is how far BlackNike can go in the playoffs, Sacre anticipates a No Data vs BlackNike conference final and that's quite possible. We'll see...before the season began I predicted that Master would make the playoffs but get eliminated early and BlackNike a championship contender...those look pretty accurate at this time.
Prediction: BlackNike 12-2
Players to watch: Wups, Wish Master )!(
BUNNER vs. EpiK
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: BUNNER by 6
BUNNER playing a career season...EpiK on the other hand has played pretty much as expected. Losses to the stronger No Data and Blasphemy and victories against weaker squads. Before the season I predicted a first playoff round exit for EpiK and it looks very much like a matched prediction. BUNNER is a wild card and it'll be hard to predict how far they'll go. The team is completely based on the duo of Tritoch and Noobed, it all depends on how much support the other two players can create.
Prediction: BUNNER 12-5
Players to watch: Noobed, babyhef
Llamasery vs. Blasphemy
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: Blasphemy by 7
Llamasery has good suprise potential, but they simply do not have the bench to challenge a squad like Blasphemy. Llamasery's season's high point was defeating BlackNike 12-8 in two. After that there have been a varying performances for the reformed squad. A loss to Birds of Prey was a setback, but beating Alcoholism and Ferrum got them in the playoffs. Blasphemy had only one real contestant in this season's regular season and they lost when they should've played their best. A 2-5 loss to No Data was something that they should've avoided. As things stand, Blasphemy is still quite untested this season as they've only faced a single above-average squad. This is the chance to prove that they can compete for the top spots in AML. I believe the key in this match will be subbing and Blasphemy does have an advantage in that since they have a lot of more depth. The match will probably be close though.
Prediction: Blasphemy 12-4
Players to watch: Razar, Matt
Ferrum vs. No Data
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: No Data by 9
On ScoreMaster I predicted No Data by 9...that'll NEVER happen. No Data is a class example of a lobbing squad, or are they? Tin Cup has added a lot of offense to their lineup and borAX has been simply awesome while playing a weasel. Before the season began, I predicted No Data to be a championship contender and they do look a lot like one. I also noted their huge choke potential and they have had that too and have escaped with a 7-0 regular season+exhibition matches only barely on several occasions. Ferrum is in the playoffs, expected, will they be able to challenge No Data? Probably not. While Miasaka, Medicus, Misterio and Don Cherry can play strong matches, they can also play bad matches. Winning against Birds of Prey took them in to the playoffs, but this'll probably be as far as this first season squad goes. The winner of this match will most likely face Blasphemy and if I'm not mistaken, that'll be No Data, which means that Blasphemy will get another chance to prove themselves against one of their oldest rivals...No Data has to be prepeared for that, the regular season result is now history, each match begins at 0-0.
Prediction: No Data 12-4
Players to watch: Miasaka, Tin Cup
Dissent vs. Warlords
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: Dissent by 9
I for one hope that Warlords can pull themselves together after a bad season and make a good return for the playoffs. Being fourth in a division leaves a squad very little chances in the playoffs and Warlords do look set to lose this one. All their four players and bench will have to have a strong game to even challenge Dissent and that probably won't happen. Dissent will be challenged in the next round as they'll most likely face Mutiny or Oracle X. I named them a championship contender before the season started, now I think that they'll choke in the quarter finals (that's the round after this one in my book).
Prediction: Dissent 12-2
Players to watch: Miner, Bad-News
Mutiny vs. Oracle X
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: Mutiny by 4
The match that is absolutely the hardest to predict on playoff round one. The predictions on ScoreMaster are 6-6 as I predict this. Oracle X started off big this season with big victories over Starfire Elite and No Data in the preseason. After that things have calmed down a bit. Losses to Disavowed and Starseed have put the squad back down to the "black horse" -category. Mutiny has played big when they've needed it, in matches against Dissent and Starfire Elite. Losses to Integral and Idiosyncrasy are puzzling but the squad really does hold a lot of potential. According to this Mutiny is the stronger squad here, but I've had bad experiences with predicting against Oracle X, so... I'll go with the "upset" here and see how things turn out.
Prediction: Oracle X 7-4
Players to watch: K'Vath, Anamalech
Starfire Elite vs. Disavowed
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: Starfire Elite by 6
Well, I hope you'll all be here to root SFE to a victory and I'll do my best when my ?spec lines reach four...or if you want Disavowed to win, then hold your thumbs up for a Mauler-choke.
Prediction: NONE
Players to watch: NONE
Idiosyncrasy vs. Starseed
Mauler's ScoreMaster prediction: Starseed by 8
Idiosyncrasy managed to make it to the playoffs out of the close Sagittarius division. They ranked fourth and therefore now face the strong Starseed squadron. Losing to NightBane isn't something that a solid squad would do, but winning against Mutiny, Harness and Integral is something that probably only Cosmic Rift squads can do... Starseed, a season with much disarray, but they did come out on top of their division. Beating both Disavowed and Oracle X with two kills was the key here. Starseed is a good way to place your bets for this season's playoffs.
Prediction: Starseed 12-4
Players to watch: KraziKarl, Black Assassin
